Character Artist – Photoreal Heads

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop high-quality 3D human head models that accurately reflect likeness using reference images or scanning data.

• Sculpt intricate facial shapes grounded in a solid comprehension of human anatomy, bone structures, and skin surface details.

• Utilize Texture XYZ maps and advanced texturing techniques to create lifelike skin textures.

• Process scan heads and photogrammetry data, refining them into polished, production-ready meshes.

• Create clean, production-quality maps (Normal, AO, Curvature, Cavity, etc.) suitable for real-time engines.

• Execute hair card placement for realistic head grooming, ensuring appropriate flow, variation, and density.

• Collaborate with modeling, rigging, texturing, grooming, and animation teams to facilitate seamless asset integration.

• Optimize assets for real-time engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) while maintaining quality standards.

• Uphold high artistic standards and adhere to production timelines.


⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, particularly facial structure, proportions, and muscle groups.

• Demonstrated capability to achieve realistic or stylized head likeness with high precision.

• Strong experience with Texture XYZ maps and workflows based on scanning techniques.

• Familiarity with the creation and placement of hair cards for real-time characters.

• Proficiency in ZBrush for sculpting tasks.

• Solid knowledge of Substance Painter, Mari, and Photoshop for texturing processes.

• Experience in 3D scan cleanup and photogrammetry practices.

• Understanding of PBR workflows and map baking pipelines.

• Familiarity with real-time engines (Unreal/Unity).

• Keen attention to detail and a strong passion for realism.

• Ability to accept feedback and iterate quickly.
