Chaplain, Bilingual Spanish Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Acts as a messenger and representative of faith, mission, and purpose.

• Engages with companies, their personnel, and the community in a way that reflects character through personal and spiritual practices.

• Conducts regular visits to company work sites (typically weekly) to connect with employees and cultivate relationships built on trust and friendship inspired by Christian faith.

• Visits employees or their immediate family members in locations where care can be offered and assistance provided, such as hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family homes, or other relevant sites.

• May offer confidential pastoral discussions addressing personal issues for employees and their immediate family members, including but not limited to family concerns, divorce, serious illness, elder care, bereavement, parenting challenges, financial matters including debt discussions, budgeting, and other life issues associated with financial stress, along with any other personal challenges.

• Provides referral services and acts as a coordinator for specialized support to employees and/or immediate family members with specific needs.

• May assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals for employees or their immediate family members, including offering follow-up support and encouragement during the grieving process.

• May visit employees and their immediate family members who are in jail.

• Collaborates with companies to notify families and other employees about deaths and serious injuries, offering support to those affected by various tragedies.

• May provide post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to ensure a smooth transition to a new work environment.

• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as events led by employees are typically more effective than those led by chaplains.

• Offers, when appropriate or requested, literature and resources to assist company employees with life challenges.

• Acts as a representative of companies to clients/customers when ministry services are involved (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).

• Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.

• With the approval of the Executive Director of Operations (EDO), responds positively and assertively to additional duties and services requested by the executive leadership of companies, in accordance with the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.

• Spiritual maturity and dedication to a Christian lifestyle, aligned with MCHAP's Ministry values.

• Integrates Christian values and beliefs into daily activities and job performance.

• Possesses a foundational understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.

• Confirms a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively participates in a biblically-based church.

• Proven ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups.

• Ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service.

• Capability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential matters.

• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families.

• Ability to maintain emotional stability when dealing with human suffering, emergencies, and other stressors.

• Skilled in analyzing information to identify and follow up on problems or objectives.

• Ability to identify solutions and resolve issues.

• Proficient in interpreting policies and procedures related to the position and keeping others informed.

• Demonstrated computer proficiency with Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software, internet, email messaging, and web-based applications.

• Ability to understand and learn new technology programs.

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain state minimum auto insurance in the areas where clients are served.
