This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine medical record documentation to pinpoint essential details required for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures that represent patients’ conditions and treatments.

• Assign codes for evaluation and management utilizing appropriate CPT codes.

• Apply ICD-10 codes to classify diagnoses accurately.

• Collaborate with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding discrepancies, and obtain signatures for any unsigned dates of service.

• Label files for necessary follow-up actions.

• Serve as the lead individual, providing assistance to coders and IBC staff regarding medical terminology and policy interpretation.

• Support initiatives aimed at enhancing physician awareness of documentation requirements.

• Compile case reports and initiate follow-up actions for the billing process.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess one coding credential: AHIMA CCA, CCS, or CCS-P; AAPC CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or an AAPC specialty-specific coding credential.

• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding is essential.

• Preferred: prior coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a relevant field.

• Preferred: associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.

• Proficiency in computer systems.

• Understanding of medical billing and coding practices.

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• A diploma, certification, or degree is not a prerequisite.

• No specific prior work experience is necessary.

• A driver's license is not mandatory.

• External candidates receiving an offer must complete relevant pre-employment screenings, including criminal background checks and verification of employment, education, or licensure/certification when applicable.
