Certified Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conducting candidate interviews remotely via video or phone as required.

• Performing reference interviews through remote means.

• Completing verification processes for employment, education, and other relevant details as assigned.

• Reviewing documents and presenting findings in a clear and objective manner.

• Conducting research on social media and open sources while adhering to applicable laws.

• Composing precise and timely investigation summaries and reports in accordance with POST standards and program requirements.

• Collaborating with internal project management and quality review teams to facilitate the submission of final reports.

• Ensuring secure handling of sensitive information and adhering to documentation standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• POST Background Investigator certification (mandatory for sworn cases).

• At least five (5) years of experience in conducting pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement or public safety agencies.

• In-depth understanding of POST standards and Government Codes 1031 and 1029.

• Excellent written communication skills and disciplined documentation practices.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines effectively.

• Proficient in working within a remote, case-driven environment.

• Keen attention to detail with a capability to produce consistent and defensible documentation.
