Category Manager – Strategic Sourcing, Purchased Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Oversee strategic sourcing initiatives for complex projects aimed at achieving cost savings and continuous improvements in cost and productivity.

• Manage competitive sourcing activities, negotiations for high-value contracts, and assess risk exposure on strategic initiatives.

• Foster relationships with suppliers and group purchasing organizations, negotiate terms, monitor supplier performance, and conduct business reviews.

• Ensure compliance and enhance the utilization of national, custom, and Trinity Health system purchasing agreements.

• Execute sourcing, negotiations, spend analysis, demand forecasting, market intelligence, risk assessment, and cost-benefit evaluations.

• Analyze extensive datasets and create dashboards, reports, and visualizations.

• Lead RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, develop sourcing strategies, perform analyses, and conduct negotiations.

• Direct cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to promote standardization, reduce costs, enhance service quality, and improve processes.

• Develop and communicate sourcing strategies to senior management, Value Analysis, Operations, TIS, and relevant stakeholders.

• Oversee supplier engagement, category strategies, sourcing projects, contract assessments, and implementation transitions.

• Collaborate with Finance to validate projected savings and monitor supplier performance using scorecards.

• Assist in resolving supplier service challenges and barriers involving business owners, regional management, and Supply Chain personnel.

• Establish thorough sourcing procedures for assigned products, services, and IT categories.

• Perform other tasks as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business, supply chain management, data science, or a clinical discipline; or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in sourcing.

• Comprehensive understanding of supply chain principles and practices.

• Proven ability to conduct financial analysis.

• Advanced knowledge in data analytics and procurement.

• Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar applications at an intermediate to advanced level.

• Experience in vendor relationship management and market trend analysis.

• Familiarity with Lean methodologies and technical problem-solving concepts and techniques.

• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

• Capacity to clearly and concisely communicate complex findings.

• Ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders and external suppliers.

• Competence in addressing conflicts and challenging conventional thinking.

• Understanding of the financial, operational, and business impacts on customer and stakeholder businesses.

• Skill in identifying potential issues and developing effective solutions.

• Expertise in conducting and executing complex analyses, including TCO, EVC, and NPV.

• Ability to translate analytical findings into preliminary recommendations.

• Excellent organizational, planning, and project management capabilities.

• Understanding of supplier bases and relevant market trends.

• Knowledge of contract law and applicable regulations.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal legal counsel.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Skill in managing priorities and adapting to changing requirements.

• Experience in the healthcare sector is preferred.

• Highly proficient in data visualization, statistical analysis, and business intelligence tools is preferred.

• Ability to adhere to relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and the Code of Conduct.
