This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Concentrate on project assignments, troubleshooting performance issues, conducting audits, and performing health checks.
• Design and assist in the implementation of new Cassandra deployments.
• Assess existing clusters and offer recommendations for best practices.
• Troubleshoot high-priority problems in mission-critical production environments.
• Provide support for the DSE Enterprise environment, including Search and Analytics.
• Assist with Cassandra-related open-source tools such as Cassandra Medusa and Cassandra Reaper.
• Interact with the Cassandra community through user lists, IRC, blog posts, webinars, and open-source initiatives.
• Contribute to fast-paced brainstorming sessions, design, and development of prototypes.
• Automate processes and document operational procedures.
• Mentor and train junior team members.
• Generate performance and forecast reports on the health and load of essential business processes to ensure sufficient infrastructure capacity.
• Participate in company and team meetings.
• Engage in ongoing education regarding Pythian’s Operations as a Service supported stack.
• Provide on-call assistance as part of your team’s on-call rotation.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• More than 3 years of experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Solr, Scylla, and CockroachDB.
• Expertise in the DSE Enterprise environment, including Search and Analytics.
• Proficient in Cassandra-related open-source tools, including Cassandra Medusa and Cassandra Reaper.
• Skilled in at least one programming language (e.g., Shell, Java, Go, C#, C++, Ruby, Python, Ansible), with a preference for Shell and Python.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Familiarity with web applications, distributed systems, and databases.
• Knowledge of various orchestration and configuration management systems.
• Understanding of continuous integration and automation methodologies.
• Familiarity with multiple monitoring, alerting, and metric collection systems.
• Awareness of current IT service standards, including ITIL.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• A proactive and self-directed approach in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
