Cantonese/Mandarin VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of ethics.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific jargon relevant to the industry in which the interpreter operates, particularly in healthcare and medical fields. Training will be provided for this.

• Accurately convey all messages without adding, omitting, or altering any of the content.

• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and Clients by providing precise and complete interpretations of messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Follow dress code guidelines for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Cantonese/Mandarin".

• At least 1 year of experience in over-the-phone interpretation at a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, though not required.

• A solid understanding of medical terminology is beneficial, but not essential.

• Knowledge of legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications related to the healthcare sector are advantageous (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
