Cantonese VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Have a solid understanding of the specific vocabulary related to the industry in which the interpreter operates, particularly healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or altering any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretations of messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Cantonese."

• A minimum of 1 year of telephone interpretation experience at a reputable interpretation company is beneficial, though not essential.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous, but not required.

• Knowledge of legal terminology is a plus.

• Possession of international certifications in the healthcare industry is favorable (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
