Cantonese VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Maintain readiness to take notes throughout the duration of a call.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific terminology relevant to the industry in which you are interpreting (particularly healthcare and medical).

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or altering any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and Clients by providing precise and complete interpretations of the messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Maintain communication with and report to your team leader.

• Adhere to the dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English).

• Native proficiency in the target language "Cantonese".

• A minimum of 1 year of over-the-phone interpretation experience with a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, though not essential.

• A solid understanding of medical terminology is beneficial, but not required.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are advantageous (such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
