This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems, HVAC units, kitchen appliances, laundry machines, and other related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair industrial appliances utilized in food service, laundry, and general service environments.
• Interpret preventive maintenance schedules and execute computer-generated maintenance and repair work orders efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and fix large-tonnage cooling systems in controlled settings such as laboratories and computer/control areas.
• Maintain and repair stationary exercise and recreational machinery.
• Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems associated with building climate control.
• Service and repair heating and power boilers, including annual and semiannual disassembly, testing, and cleaning procedures.
• Layout and install both structural and functional components as required.
• Assemble motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and piping systems.
• Cut, thread, and connect piping to functional components and onsite water or power systems.
• Pump designated gas or fluids into systems, initiate operations, monitor performance, read gauges, and adjust valves, controls, and pumps accordingly.
• Dismantle malfunctioning systems, test components, and replace or adjust defective parts as necessary.
• Insulate system shells and cabinets and install wiring to connect components to electrical power sources.
• Participate in daily safety toolbox meetings and complete job safety assessments.
• Alert supervisors when safety and sanitation standards are not upheld.
• Perform additional tasks that contribute to the overall success of the department or unit.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with commercial or industrial equipment, including refrigeration systems, HVAC units, kitchen appliances, and laundry equipment.
• Possession of Universal refrigeration certification I, II, and III.
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for the past three (3) years in accordance with NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment contract requirements, which may include a hair follicle drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team with colleagues, customers, and clients.
• Capable of making decisions independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hours during scheduled shifts.
• Willingness to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and uphold cleanliness standards in remote camp settings.
• Proficient in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing in English.
• Must adhere to company and client safety guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camp locations.
• Must be able to meet physical fit-for-duty tests, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, and shoveling.
• Capable of working both indoors and outdoors in arctic conditions.
• Must be able to work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, or caustic substances.
• Candidates from outside the Fairbanks area may be responsible for travel and accommodation expenses related to pre-employment activities in Fairbanks, AK.
• Company-funded flights to remote locations for scheduled trips after reporting to the Fairbanks hiring point.
