This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Create a concise, visually engaging essay that examines the partnership between artists and scientists in unique, remote, extreme, or hard-to-access environments.
• Anchor the contribution in collaborative fieldwork or ongoing cooperation with scientists or scientific researchers.
• Investigate how artistic and scientific approaches influence each other through techniques such as measurement, observation, documentation, imagination, and aesthetic practice.
• Generate an essay that includes photographs, artworks, field images, diagrams, maps, or other visual elements resulting from the collaboration.
• Enable readers to experience the inquiry process, encompassing instruments, observations, discussions, uncertainties, errors, discoveries, and moments of awe.
• Prepare the essay and accompanying visual content for publication by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Washington, DC.
• Applicants must be artists residing in the United States or Canada.
• Work should entail significant collaboration with scientists or scientific researchers in a practical setting.
• Proposals must range between 300 and 500 words.
• The proposal should outline the environment, the collaboration, and the primary question or concept.
• Include a CV or a brief biography with the submission.
• Provide a short description of the accompanying visual material.
• Share links to relevant previous work, if applicable.
• Artistic disciplines may include photography, film, sound, visual art, performance, installation, writing, or interdisciplinary formats.
• A stipend of USD $2,500 will be awarded for the development of the essay and accompanying visual material for publication by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Washington, DC.
