This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team of CAD designers, BIM specialists, and design engineers.
• Set departmental objectives, performance benchmarks, and developmental strategies.
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and career growth planning.
• Recruit, onboard, and train new design personnel.
• Manage departmental workload, capacity planning, resource distribution, task assignments, schedules, and client commitments.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, service operations, and field teams.
• Monitor design output, turnaround times, quality, utilization, and related KPIs.
• Identify and address resource constraints and project risks.
• Ensure that drawings, calculations, and design packages adhere to company standards and relevant codes.
• Review and authorize design deliverables prior to customer submission.
• Maintain standard design practices, templates, documentation, CAD standards, drawing libraries, design tools, and software platforms.
• Provide support for complex design reviews and offer technical guidance.
• Oversee BIM coordination and clash detection activities when necessary.
• Ensure that designs meet customer specifications, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.
• Assist with permitting activities and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Develop and implement best practices for design production and project execution.
• Enhance efficiency through the use of technology, automation, and process standardization.
• Partner with project managers to facilitate project execution and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Support field operations by providing design clarifications and resolving technical issues.
• Engage in customer meetings, project reviews, and strategic initiatives.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Over 5 years of experience in fire alarm, life safety, security, or low-voltage systems design.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience managing design, CAD, or engineering teams.
• Practical knowledge of project delivery processes in construction and service environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm system design and life safety codes.
• Experience with design and project collaboration platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with large-scale commercial and national account projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and 3D modeling is preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), International Building Code, International Fire Code, local AHJ requirements, and applicable UL/FM standards.
• Remote work.
• Salary ranging from $130,203 to $153,180 per year.
