This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Develop 3D CAD models from various sources, including 2D drawings, sketches, reference images, measurements, or customer requirements.
• Update existing CAD files to enhance their fit, strength, manufacturability, or printability.
• Prepare components for 3D printing using techniques such as FDM, SLS, SLA, MJF, and metal additive manufacturing.
• Convert and refine files across formats such as STEP, STL, IGES, 3MF, DXF, and DWG.
• Assess part geometry for common 3D printing challenges, including thin walls, overhangs, unsupported features, tolerances, warping potential, and assembly compatibility.
• Generate basic technical drawings that include dimensions, tolerances, materials, and notes as necessary.
• Collaborate with the Accio3D team to propose design modifications based on material, process, and supplier capabilities.
• Assist in establishing a repeatable process for transforming legacy and replacement parts into manufacturable 3D-printed components.
• Keep organized files, maintain revision history, and document details for each part.
• Extensive experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, CATIA, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Proficiency in creating clean, parametric, and manufacturable models.
• Background in modifying mechanical components, including brackets, housings, fixtures, mounts, adapters, covers, jigs, or replacement parts.
• Familiarity with tolerances, assemblies, fits, wall thickness, fillets, threads, ribs, and fastening methods.
• Knowledge of 3D printing design principles and constraints associated with additive manufacturing.
• Capability to work from incomplete or messy inputs and still deliver practical CAD results.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate design trade-offs.
• Comfort in working swiftly in a startup environment.
• Experience in designing parts specifically for SLS, MJF, FDM, SLA, or metal 3D printing.
• Background in reverse engineering, 3D scanning, or scan-to-CAD processes.
• Understanding of automotive, aerospace, industrial, defense, or manufacturing components.
• Familiarity with GD&T.
• Ability to evaluate material/process suitability for various parts.
• Experience in preparing files for vendors, suppliers, or manufacturing partners.
