This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Work collaboratively across engineering, production, finance, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure procurement strategies align with technical specifications, cost objectives, and production schedules.
• Lead procurement efforts for new product launches (NPI), sourcing components like sensors, optics, and both mechanical and electrical parts for local and international manufacturing sites.
• Oversee the acquisition of MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) materials, including facility consumables and essential operational supplies to maintain uninterrupted production.
• Source and procure laboratory equipment, tooling, and specialized components to facilitate prototype development, validation testing, and engineering projects.
• Assist in the supplier selection process, including RFQs/RFPs, commercial assessments, and contract negotiations to secure advantageous pricing, terms, and delivery performance.
• Keep precise and compliant procurement records, including purchase orders, pricing agreements, supplier information, and inventory transactions within ERP/MRP systems.
• Support global logistics operations, including import/export requirements, freight optimization, and delivery scheduling with international suppliers.
• Monitor and evaluate market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks in the automotive electronics sector to guide sourcing strategies and minimize disruptions.
• Initiate cost-reduction strategies through strategic sourcing, value engineering, should-cost analysis, and supplier consolidation efforts.
• Conduct and assist in supplier audits, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and compliance standards.
• Issue and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring their accuracy, proper authorization, and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Continuously monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost), addressing issues related to delays, nonconformance, or commercial discrepancies.
• Identify and implement improvements within the procurement function to enhance efficiency, shorten cycle times, and optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Ensure strict adherence to internal procurement policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including automotive quality expectations.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on purchasing activities, spend analytics, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives to management.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in the automotive sector.
• Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, PPAP).
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
