This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Ensure that complex products, goods, and services meet customer expectations by employing a standardized process methodology.

• Engage actively in the review process of code, specifications, requirements, etc., to formulate, document, and implement repeatable test plans.

• Proactively identify issues through research, analysis, and a comprehensive understanding of structured languages.

• Create a detailed set of requirements or business models essential for establishing the desired sustainable “to be” business environment. Convert end-user needs into workflow and procedural modifications, as well as specifications for complex system enhancements when appropriate.

• Identify and manage intricate software defects and system irregularities until successful resolution. Collaborate with software developers to address complex issues and provide detailed diagnostic insights. Consult with end-users regarding corrective actions as necessary in a calm and professional manner.

• Develop, maintain, and coordinate updates to complex critical system data elements and configurable applications, including rules, values, tables, and outputs, with minimal or no assistance from development resources. Understand intricate data structures and database schemas.

• Prepare end-user procedures and manuals, and deliver training for complex new or modified system functionalities. Inspire fellow team members through knowledge sharing and mentoring.

• Document complex project phases, provide regular status updates, and create effective release/implementation plans.

• Represent the team in interdepartmental projects and corporate initiatives; consult with business areas on complex system-related issues and offer recommendations for optimizing the use of available technology.


⛳️ Requirements

• Typically, 2+ years of relevant work and/or technical experience.

• Generally, a post-secondary degree with a technical focus in areas such as: Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics; applicable work experience in a technical field or the life insurance or annuity industry may substitute.

• Experience in life policy administration or financial systems is preferred.

• A general understanding of life products and policy administration is preferred.

• Must possess the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex life product specifications and calculations.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas is preferred.

• A thorough understanding of the system's underlying values, tables, and codes and their effects on system processing.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrates a solid working knowledge of systems and software development concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

• Proficiency in relevant tools and software necessary for the role.

• Capability to plan, organize, and execute multiple concurrent activities.

• Clear proficiency in the English language in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to interpret and convey technical information to non-technical personnel and vice versa.

• Strong presentation and negotiation skills, along with the ability to lead meetings in a professional and effective manner.

• Ability to act diplomatically in conflict resolution, consulting, and acting as an appointed agent in charge.

• Must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and committed to ongoing professional development through self-teaching.
