Business Development Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build collaborative relationships with agencies and producers to gain insights into the external marketplace and underwrite according to established guidelines.

• Assess routine business for risk acceptability, aligning pricing with exposure, loss frequency, and severity to ensure profitability.

• Create and sustain a profitable portfolio of business.

• Oversee the production and quality of designated producers.

• Propel the profitable sale of the Company's offerings.

• Cultivate the assigned producer group to enhance both the quality and quantity of business sourced from these producers.

• Seek out and develop new business opportunities with high-quality producers.

• Accept or decline straightforward to moderately complex risks, evaluating all risk characteristics in relation to the average in its class and pricing for profitability within Company Underwriting guidelines.

• Provide personal support to agents and insureds through regular visits to external locations, such as producers' offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution with a focus in Business, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• At least 1 year of relevant experience and/or training is required.

• A valid driver’s license is necessary.

• Proven ability to service the Company’s clients and sustain relationships with production sources.

• Capability to apply fundamental underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures in the designated area of specialization.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as submissions, loss control reports, and standard policy forms/endorsements.
