This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Take ownership of creating a robust pipeline from inception to closure by proactively identifying and shaping new business opportunities that utilize Tempus’ assets and capabilities.
• Conduct market research to validate new business opportunities, which includes analyzing customer budgets, required capabilities, current customer preferences, competitive landscape evaluations, and assessing incumbent strengths and weaknesses.
• Organize and facilitate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and team members to gather market insights on requirements, acquisition strategies, timing, and contract vehicle options.
• Collaborate with program and management teams in the development and execution of call plans, and provide comprehensive reports on follow-up activities post-execution.
• Act as Capture Manager for selected opportunities, managing the process from early capture phases to award.
• Lead the business development process, encompassing pipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, and proposal evaluations.
• Work in tandem with Tempus AI Account Managers, PMs, and other business development personnel and functional partners (such as marketing, regulatory, R&D, etc.) to secure wins.
• Encourage management, functional leads, staff, and customers to foster deep trust among stakeholders, enabling customers to enhance their relationship and advocate for Tempus in their networks.
• Provide senior management with insights on opportunities to boost deal volume and expedite processes.
• A minimum of 10+ years of project experience working on US Federal projects or programs, including at least 5 years in a successful VA business development or capture management role with a proven sales record.
• Ability to engage collaboratively and influence at the highest levels of VA customer administrations.
• Established relationships with firms engaged with the VA, coupled with the capacity to form teaming partnerships.
• Lead proposal initiatives, involving capture strategies, solutions development, and collaboration with business subject matter experts, technical experts, and clinical specialists for proposal writing and compliance review.
• Excellent communication skills to distill complex issues and convey them clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant technical field (e.g., sciences, medical, engineering), along with 10+ years in a Business Development role. (Additional education, training, or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)
• A demonstrated history of successful business development across various acquisition sizes.
• Proven access to key customers and industry partners.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Leadership abilities to develop, organize, and execute significant business development activities, including forming industry teams, assessing win probabilities, and implementing customer call plans.
• Previous experience supporting business development and capture efforts for health agencies.
• Candidates must be US Citizens and eligible for security clearance.
