This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assist in the advancement and enhancement of LabWare LIMS v8, including integrations, optimization of workflows, reporting, and laboratory informatics projects.
• Collaborate with scientists, the LIMS Supervisor, laboratory leadership, section chief scientists, and lab personnel.
• Coordinate necessary modifications to the system to achieve results for laboratory sections.
• Support the implementation of new LabWare LIMS v8 and API integration.
• Provide architecture, development, enhancement, testing, and support for HL7 integration.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of LabWare LIMS v8.
• Facilitate communication with UPHL leadership regarding LIMS priorities, data security, and informatics requirements.
• Program and troubleshoot system functionalities, proposing timely solutions.
• Identify system performance metrics and recommend actions to enhance or rectify performance.
• Assess relative costs and benefits to determine suitable actions.
• Gather and document data requirements.
• Effectively communicate requirements.
• Create user stories and test scripts.
• Conduct user acceptance testing.
• Analyze and implement process enhancements.
• Develop documentation for workflows.
• Train end users.
• Assist in improving system performance.
• Proven experience in programming, implementing, and maintaining intricate software systems.
• Skilled in identifying user needs and translating them into business and technical requirements.
• Competence in evaluating and testing software functionalities to fulfill business demands.
• Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
• Experience in educating end users on the usage of complex software systems.
• Familiarity with flow diagram software and capability to create workflows.
• Proficient in organizing and drafting clear, objective-focused documentation.
• Experience handling large databases and data retrieval processes.
• Understanding of general laboratory processes, terminology, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Preferred experience with laboratory methodologies and processes relevant to the assigned lab section.
• Preferred experience in supporting laboratory information management systems in Infectious Disease, Toxicology, and/or Environmental Chemistry laboratories.
• Preferred experience in performing queries in LabWare LIMS, addressing minor coding issues, and customizing reports using Crystal Reports.
• Familiarity with system requirements gathering and documentation.
• Ability to assess and implement process enhancements.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of HL7, XML, CCDA, LOINC, SNOMED CT, and ICD-10.
• Experience with complex, modern information technology software.
• Background in epidemiology, information technology, or informatics.
• Experience in business analysis.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
• Experience in requirements gathering and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Preferred experience with LabWare LIMS.
• Preferred background in laboratory informatics.
• Preferred knowledge of HL7, XML, CCDA, LOINC, SNOMED CT, and ICD-10.
• Preferred public health laboratory experience.
• Preferred experience with Crystal Reports.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload across several complex projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lucid.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
