Burmese OPI/VRI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to phone calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry in which you will be interpreting, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts; training will be provided.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without addition, omission, or substitution.

• Deliver exceptional customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and thorough interpretation of messages.

• Apply established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fluent in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Hakha/Burmese".

• At least 1 year of experience in telephone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company is preferred, but not required.

• A solid understanding of medical terminology is advantageous, though not essential.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are beneficial (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and a tolerance for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
