This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Create and execute comprehensive building energy models utilizing tools like IES VE, EnergyPlus, or OpenStudio to assess energy, carbon, and thermal performance.
• Convert modeling outcomes into practical design suggestions and work alongside architects and engineers to apply energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.
• Examine architectural and MEP design documents to guarantee the integration of energy performance measures and adherence to applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, 189.1).
• Prepare and assist in the documentation for LEED and other green building certifications, including energy simulation reports and sustainability narratives.
• Aid sustainability workshops, design charrettes, and client meetings by presenting analysis results and helping to establish performance targets (e.g., EUI, carbon intensity).
• Contribute to long-term sustainability planning and develop decarbonization roadmaps for clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science with a strong emphasis on building systems.
• 3–6 years of experience in sustainability consulting, building performance, or energy modeling.
• Expertise in energy modeling software such as IES VE, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, or comparable tools.
• Understanding of green building frameworks and certification procedures, including LEED.
• Practical knowledge of HVAC systems, building envelopes, and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Capability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for engaging with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
