Building Consultant – General Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Promptly receive and respond to assignments, typically scheduling inspections within 24 hours.

• Perform comprehensive onsite property inspections (often alongside engineers) within 7 days of assignment.

• Access rooftops, crawlspaces, and other challenging areas to carry out complete evaluations.

• Generate detailed photo reports, cost estimates (utilizing Xactimate or similar), and written reports within 7 days after the inspection.

• Collaborate with Keystone’s Managing Building Consultant throughout the review and approval process, responding within 24 hours to report feedback.

• Occasionally travel to conduct evaluations during CAT (Catastrophe) events.

• Engage in joint inspections and communicate effectively with policyholders, engineers, and claim adjusters.

• Serve as an expert witness when necessary, providing credible testimony grounded in your construction experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in general contracting, construction, home remodeling, mitigation, or related fields.

• Previous or current contractor’s license (if required by your state).

• Practical experience with insurance-related repairs or claims estimating.

• Proficient in construction estimating methods, covering time & materials and software-based systems.

• Proficient or familiar with industry software such as Xactimate (desktop & mobile), Symbility, Matterport, DocuSketch, and Hover.

• Prior experience in preparing estimates and proposals, including for large-loss projects.

• IICRC certification and/or mitigation contracting experience is advantageous.

• Strong written communication skills to create detailed, professional reports.

• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.

• Physically capable of conducting inspections, including accessing roofs and crawl spaces.
