Building Consultant – General Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Promptly receive and address assignments, usually scheduling inspections within 24 hours.

• Perform comprehensive onsite property inspections (often alongside engineers) within 7 days of assignment.

• Access rooftops, crawlspaces, and other difficult environments to carry out complete evaluations.

• Generate detailed photo reports, cost estimates (utilizing Xactimate or similar tools), and written reports within 7 days following the inspection.

• Collaborate with Keystone’s Managing Building Consultant during the review and approval process, responding to report feedback within 24 hours.

• Occasionally travel for CAT (Catastrophe) event evaluations.

• Engage in joint inspections and communicate effectively with policyholders, engineers, and claim adjusters.

• Serve as an expert witness when needed, providing credible testimony grounded in your construction experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in general contracting, construction, home remodeling, mitigation, or related fields.

• Previous or current contractor’s license (if mandated in your state).

• Practical experience with insurance-related repairs or claims estimating.

• Proficiency in construction estimating methods, including both time & materials and software-based systems.

• Familiarity or proficiency with industry software such as: Xactimate (desktop & mobile), Symbility, Matterport, DocuSketch, Hover.

• Prior experience in preparing estimates and proposals, particularly for large-loss projects.

• IICRC certification and/or experience in mitigation contracting is an advantage.

• Strong written communication skills to create detailed, professional reports.

• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
