This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Bond Specialists by providing direction, training, and constructive feedback.
• Set performance standards, track results, and ensure accountability among team members regarding operational, compliance, quality, and service objectives.
• Oversee workloads and resources to guarantee the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of bonds, powers of attorney (POAs), and related documentation.
• Stay informed about customs regulations, bond requirements, importer identity verification standards, POA requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Create, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Review and authorize POA intake documentation, powers of attorney, and accompanying documentation.
• Assess and approve enhanced due diligence documentation for nonresident importers of record.
• Supervise business legitimacy assessments, importer identity verification, and restricted party screening.
• Conduct audits and quality assessments of bonds, POAs, importer verification, and recordkeeping practices.
• Track productivity, quality, and service metrics to enhance operational efficiency.
• Act as an escalation point for clients and address complex issues.
• Manage relationships with surety providers and external partners.
• Coordinate POA renewals to ensure timely compliance and seamless client service.
• Active U.S. Customs Broker License is required.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Customs Compliance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be accepted.
• At least 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, bond administration, or a similar regulatory environment.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or management role within a compliance-focused operational setting.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations, powers of attorney, importer identity verification, bond administration, and recordkeeping practices.
• Experience in interpreting and applying regulatory requirements while balancing operational and customer service priorities.
• Proficiency in customs brokerage systems, Microsoft Office, and document management platforms.
• Experience in supervising bond, POA, compliance, or brokerage operations teams is preferred.
• Knowledge of nonresident importer requirements and enhanced due diligence processes is preferred.
• Familiarity with working alongside surety companies and the bond underwriting process is preferred.
• Experience in leading audits, quality assurance reviews, process improvements, or compliance initiatives is preferred.
• Proven capability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop team members.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, analytical, auditing, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to interpret regulations, evaluate risk, make informed business decisions, manage escalated client concerns, maintain confidentiality, and handle multiple priorities.
