Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.

📋 Description

• Acting as a reliable advisor to the CEO, they will develop and implement the strategic plan for FASD United.

• Evaluating the outcomes and metrics established by FASD United for assessing its impact, while regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing the agenda and supporting materials before board and committee meetings.

• Approving the annual budget, audit reports, and significant business decisions of FASD United; ensuring awareness of and compliance with all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.

• Contributing to the annual performance assessment of the CEO.

• Assisting the CEO, board chair, and governance committee in the identification and recruitment of additional Board Members.

• Collaborating with the CEO and fellow board members to ensure the execution of board resolutions.

• Participating in committees or task forces and undertaking special assignments.

• Acting as a representative of FASD United to stakeholders; serving as an ambassador for the organization.

• Upholding FASD United’s commitment to maintaining a diverse board and staff that mirrors the communities served.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience with notable executive leadership achievements in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.

• A commitment to and understanding of FASD United’s beneficiaries, ideally grounded in personal experience.

• Diplomatic skills complemented by a natural ability to cultivate relationships, persuade, convene, facilitate, and build consensus among a variety of individuals.

• Personal attributes of integrity, credibility, and a strong passion for enhancing the lives of FASD United’s beneficiaries.

• An emphasis on diversity, neurodiversity, and a positive focus on the lived experiences of individuals with FASD.
