Bioinformatics Technician

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily operations of Tiny Health's bioinformatics pipeline.

• Monitor the progress of samples from data delivery to the final release of results.

• Supervise a cloud-based bioinformatics pipeline to identify any failures.

• Conduct standardized quality control analyses at the batch level.

• Create datasets and perform brief analyses for the science and clinical research teams.

• Collaborate with customer support to address any customer-impacting issues.

• Work alongside scientists, bioinformaticians, and external partners to further research goals.

• Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation.

• Report directly to the Bioinformatics Engineer while collaborating closely with the wider science team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent experience in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with bioinformatics pipelines.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and R.

• Familiarity with AI tools.

• Exceptional organizational abilities and a keen eye for detail.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to work independently and manage competing responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

• Preferred: experience with microbiome, microbial ecology, or human metagenomics datasets.

• Preferred: background in the biotech sector, particularly in startups.

• Preferred: experience with shotgun metagenomic bioinformatics workflows.

• Preferred: knowledge of SQL or other database systems.

• Preferred: familiarity with AWS or other cloud services.

• Preferred: prior experience in a fast-paced startup atmosphere.

• Preferred: experience in direct-to-consumer health/wellness companies.

• Preferred: experience working remotely, with proficiency in Slack.

• Preferred: self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
