This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide analytical support for external partners by overseeing activities that facilitate genomic investigations (e.g., pathogen outbreaks), ensuring timely and effective solutions to meet partner requirements.

• Assist in the creation and execution of Theiagen training workshops, managing all aspects from material preparation to logistics and communication with external partners.

• Contribute valuable insights to development initiatives, which include experimental design for validating development efforts, conducting literature reviews, and rigorously testing solutions.

• Ensure compliance with, and continual enhancement of, internal training and analytical support protocols.

• Maintain regular communication with the Public Health Team Lead to summarize vital information, aligning on project statuses, challenges, and milestones for informed decision-making.

• Pursue mentorship from senior team members to enhance skills and knowledge, while fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence within the team.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience in applying bioinformatics tools and workflows to address biological questions, especially in pathogen genomics.

• Proficient in utilizing standard bioinformatics tools for tasks such as NGS quality assessment, genome assembly, annotation, taxonomic classification, and antimicrobial resistance detection.

• Basic understanding of statistical methods and bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.

• Familiarity with genomic epidemiology techniques, including MLST typing or outbreak investigation tools.

• Ability to manage multiple projects within a collaborative team setting with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong motivation and dedication to promoting public health.

• **Preferred Skills:**

• Knowledge of public health laboratory processes and workflows.

• Experience in interpreting results from bioinformatics workflows to derive actionable insights.

• Familiarity with cloud-based bioinformatics platforms (e.g., Terra.bio, Galaxy) or workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Nextflow, WDL, or Snakemake).

• Experience with visualization and reporting tools for presenting findings.

• Knowledge of shell scripting and experience working in UNIX/Linux environments.
