• Supervise, train, and mentor the billing team, delegating tasks to ensure all claims are processed in accordance with company guidelines.
• Manage the submission of Notice of Admissions (NOA), RAP (Requests for Anticipated Payment), and final claims within EMR systems.
• Perform regular audits of patient records to guarantee compliance with Medicare regulations and standards set by all payers.
• Monitor and aim to reduce accounts receivable (A/R) days and denial rates, formulating strategies to enhance collections and minimize revenue loss.
• Review and address complex denied claims, submitting appeals and overseeing the follow-up process.
• Produce and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly billing reports to track trends and provide updates to management.
• Collaborate with clinical managers, nurses, and clinicians to ensure that OASIS documentation and physician orders accurately reflect billing needs.
• Assist in the formulation and enforcement of billing policies and procedures, keeping the team informed about changes from payers.
• Assign any necessary Office Authorization for patient care to proceed without interruption, until authorization has been submitted and a decision received.
• Monitor Zendesk, WellSky fax inquiries, and incoming faxes throughout the day to update patient authorization status and address any failed faxes in WellSky that require additional information for processing authorization.
• Analyze and reconcile intricate issues and problems.
• Prepare and assess appropriate reports and other business correspondence.
• Identify needs and opportunities, presenting them to the supervisor along with recommended solutions.
• Meet productivity targets set by the Authorization Supervisor.
• Comply with federal, state, and agency regulations and policies to protect the confidentiality of patient and agency information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Address all inquiries with resolutions to concerns and/or discrepancies.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or business is preferred; a high school diploma is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in medical billing.
• 1–3 years of experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
