Billing Specialist – Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and oversee the complete billing operations across multiple revenue streams.

• Ensure precise billing related to pricing, usage, discounts, client contracts, sales orders, and tax/regulatory obligations.

• Direct the billing close process, perform reconciliations, and address any billing discrepancies.

• Support the Accounts Receivable Manager with month-end closing tasks and assist the General Ledger (GL) team with revenue inquiries at month-end.

• Prepare monthly provisions for bad debt and uphold robust revenue assurance controls to mitigate revenue loss.

• Serve as the finance business lead for billing systems.

• Lead testing, data migration, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and transition activities.

• Work collaboratively with support and sales teams to verify information, resolve inconsistencies, and manage processing challenges.

• Provide timely responses to both internal and external billing inquiries, resolving client questions and managing credit notes per company policies.

• Oversee, mentor, and coach the billing specialist team.

• Ensure rigorous compliance with regulatory and tax regulations, supporting internal and external audit needs as required.

• Perform additional ad-hoc finance tasks to aid the business during its growth phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting or billing setting.

• Experience in a team leadership or supervisory role is highly preferred.

• Proven track record working in a software company or in a high-volume subscription/usage-based billing environment is strongly preferred.

• Prior experience with system migrations, UAT testing, or the implementation of ERP/billing systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Salesforce) is a significant advantage.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.

• Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) is essential.

• Outstanding skills in MS Excel are required.

• Competence in MS Word is necessary.

• Excellent abilities in research, analysis, compliance mapping, and time management.

• A proactive self-starter with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability, able to multitask effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
