This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +20 more states.
• Supervise the daily activities of a non-exempt hospital billing team.
• Oversee the creation, execution, and attainment of operational objectives for both clients and the organization.
• Ensure compliance with client policies and procedures while executing all assigned job-related responsibilities.
• Facilitate the interviewing process for prospective billing candidates and provide feedback before hiring.
• Guarantee that team members adhere to HIPAA regulations as well as State and Federal laws and guidelines.
• Ensure that team members meet productivity benchmarks while upholding quality standards.
• Conduct weekly quality audits and offer coaching for necessary improvements.
• Monitor team member performance daily and provide coaching if they do not meet essential metrics.
• Escalate employee performance issues to leadership if coaching efforts are unsuccessful.
• Report and discuss the progress of team members and the team with leadership.
• Conduct disciplinary counseling and implement Employee Success Plans when required.
• Foster teamwork, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
• Ensure the accuracy and approval of team member payroll.
• Complete performance evaluations for staff members.
• Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and development opportunities for team members.
• Responsible for researching, analyzing, and reviewing claim errors and rejections to identify trends and improvements.
• Stay updated on payer announcements and process changes to ensure precise claims resolutions.
• Ensure that adjustments are accurate, timely, and compliant with client policies and procedures.
• Identify specific payer-related issues and communicate them to the team and leadership.
• Investigate problematic accounts as necessary.
• Lead and participate in daily shift briefings.
• Escalate client concerns (including IPO issues) to leadership if not resolved internally.
• Responsible for training all new hires on client and company workflows.
• Collaborate with leadership to formulate policies, procedures, and job aids.
• Attend client, payer, and internal meetings as requested.
• Complete all assigned projects punctually.
• Potential for limited travel.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, including at least 1 year in a healthcare provider or outsourcing setting.
• Experience with health insurance companies for securing payments, billing hospital (UB04) claims, and filing appeals.
• At least 5 years of experience in medical billing or follow-up.
• Knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle, including CMS regulations and HIPAA compliance.
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding.
• Proficient in GoToMeeting/Zoom as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Capability to lead, mentor, and develop team members effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
