Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• We are looking for a Billing Specialist to contribute to the development of n8n's billing operations with a focus on AI and automation.

• You will be responsible for managing billing and subscription processes, collections and cash flow, customer and account administration, as well as deal desk support on a daily basis across all three entities.

• Assist in creating the automations that will allow these processes to scale effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• 🧾 **Billing & AR foundation:** A maximum of 5 years of experience in invoicing, accounts receivable, and collections within a B2B SaaS or subscription environment, with a willingness to take on more responsibilities. Candidates with less experience but a strong curiosity and an automation-focused mindset are welcome.

• 🔄 **Subscription billing fluency:** You possess a solid understanding of recurring subscription billing models, including both classic tiered and usage-based structures, and are comfortable with contract modifications, proration, and (early) renewals.

• 📞 **Customer-facing confidence:** You are adept at managing direct communication with customers regarding invoices, payments, and subscriptions, including making collections calls.

• 🔍 **Diligence & quality bar:** You have a keen focus on quality and produce clean, audit-ready outputs: every invoice reconciles accurately, edge cases are addressed, and you proactively identify issues before they impact customers or month-end processes.

• 🧮 **Systems & numeracy:** You are proficient in spreadsheets and can reconcile data across CRM, billing, and finance systems, identifying discrepancies early on.

• 🤖 **AI-native working style:** You naturally leverage AI and automation in your work, with specific examples from recent quarters.

• 🛠️ **Finance systems fluency:** You possess extensive experience with billing/subscription and quote-to-cash systems (e.g., Stripe, Chargebee, Hyperline, Solvimon), CRMs (e.g., Salesforce), and accounting and finance/ERP systems (such as Netsuite, SAP, Rillet, or Campfire).

• 🔗 **Vendor-portal exposure:** You have registered and maintained a company as a supplier on platforms such as Coupa or SAP Ariba.

• 🧾 **Indirect tax familiarity:** You have managed operational VAT tasks, including validating VAT IDs, requesting and verifying tax exemptions, validating sales tax, and obtaining tax certificates from financial authorities.

• 🚀 **Scale-up experience:** You have been part of a finance function in a fast-paced tech startup where processes were being developed rather than just maintained.

• 🧩 **Product curiosity:** You have an interest in n8n and ideally have successfully built a workflow using the platform.
