Billing & Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Coding & Documentation: Evaluate patient medical records to extract relevant information and accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes.

• Claim Submission: Generate, assess, and submit accurate claims to insurance providers using billing software.

• Revenue Management: Follow up on outstanding claims, address denials, initiate appeals, and oversee accounts receivable.

• Patient Interaction: Address inquiries about bills, clarify insurance coverage, and establish payment plans.

• Team Communication: Conduct weekly outreach for any billing-related issues in a professional and timely manner.

• Compliance: Uphold strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and, if applicable, CMS guidelines.

• Data Integrity: Ensure 100% accuracy between assigned codes and documented time, guaranteeing every interaction is recorded for clinical continuity and reimbursement.

• Startup Agility: Support the Revenue Cycle and Operations teams in testing new workflows, documenting successful practices, and handling special projects as the company expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience as a biller and/or coder along with equivalent education/certification. Strong expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS is essential.

• Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or an equivalent credential is mandatory.

• Technical Native: Ability to proficiently navigate multiple software tools (Slack, EMRs, Google Suite) simultaneously. Spreadsheet experience, preferably in Google Sheets, is necessary.

• Exceptional Communication: Comfortable communicating via phone and in writing; able to clarify complex insurance matters and convey details to relevant parties.

• Detail Obsessed: Keen eye for detail, able to spot missing signatures or transposed phone numbers that others might overlook.
