Billing and Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Gathers, posts, and oversees patient account payments

• Prepares and examines patient statements

• Imports and reconciles EFTs

• Identifies and rectifies rejected claims

• Assesses overdue accounts and engages in collection efforts

• Confirms patients’ insurance coverage

• Addresses inquiries related to billing and insurance policies

• Processes payments received from insurance providers

• Follows up to determine whether a claim has been accepted or denied

• Reviews and appeals unpaid or denied claims as necessary

• Analyzes medical record documentation to ensure accurate billing of CPT and ICD-10 codes

• Obtains precertification for certain procedures when required

• Investigates potential insurance fraud and reports findings

⛳️ Requirements

• Official High School Transcripts, Diploma, or Equivalency Certificate

• Ability to navigate various tabs and systems on the computer while handling phone calls

• CPB or other Medical Billing Certification preferred, but not mandatory

• CPC or Medical Coding Certification preferred, but not mandatory

• Strong attention to detail

• Capacity to multitask

• General understanding of insurance terminology

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff
