Billing and Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Collects, posts, and oversees patient account payments.

• Prepares and reviews statements for patients.

• Imports and reconciles EFT transactions.

• Identifies and rectifies rejected claims.

• Reviews overdue accounts and makes contact for collection purposes.

• Confirms patients’ insurance coverage.

• Responds to inquiries regarding billing and insurance policies.

• Processes payments received from insurance companies.

• Follows up to determine whether a claim has been accepted or denied.

• Reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims as necessary.

• Assesses medical record documentation to ensure accurate billing of CPT and ICD-10 codes.

• Obtains precertification as needed for specific procedures.

• Investigates instances of insurance fraud and reports findings as appropriate.

⛳️ Requirements

• Official High School Transcripts, Diploma, or Equivalency Certificate.

• Ability to navigate various tabs and systems on the computer while answering phone calls.

• CPB or other Medical Billing Certification preferred, but not mandatory.

• CPC or Medical Coding Certification preferred, but not mandatory.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to multitask effectively.

• General understanding of insurance terminology.

• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.
