Biller/Collections Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Accurately prepare, review, and submit claims in a timely manner.

• Track the status of claims via payer portals, clearinghouses, and internal RCM systems.

• Investigate and resolve issues related to claim rejections, denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.

• Submit necessary corrected claims, appeals, and reconsiderations.

• Record payments and collections to accounts.

• Analyze remittance advices and explanations of benefits to detect reimbursement discrepancies.

• Conduct accounts receivable follow-up to ensure payment on outstanding accounts, including sending patient statements.

• Review accounts for appropriate adjustments, write-offs, and contractual allowances.

• Thoroughly document all account activities within the billing/RCM system.

• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of hospital billing and collection experience is required.

• Strong knowledge of institutional reimbursement methodologies.

• Proven understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer guidelines and criteria for reimbursement.

• Familiarity with UB-04 requirements.

• Ability to interpret remittance advices, contracts, and payer correspondence.

• Proficient in using clearinghouses and payer portals.

• Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage high account AR volumes.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills for addressing questions and inquiries from both internal and external customers.

• Solid computer and software skills.
