Biller/Collection Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Accurately prepare, review, and submit claims in a timely manner.

• Track the status of claims through payer portals, clearinghouses, and internal revenue cycle management systems.

• Investigate and address claim rejections, denials, underpayments, and variations in payments.

• Submit corrected claims, appeals, and requests for reconsideration as needed.

• Record payments and collections to the appropriate accounts.

• Analyze remittance advices and explanations of benefits to spot reimbursement discrepancies.

• Carry out accounts receivable follow-up activities to ensure payment on outstanding accounts, including sending patient statements.

• Evaluate accounts for suitable adjustments, write-offs, and contractual allowances.

• Meticulously document all account activities within the billing/revenue cycle management system.

• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital billing and collections is required.

• A strong understanding of institutional reimbursement methodologies.

• Proven knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer guidelines and criteria for reimbursement.

• Experience with UB-04 requirements.

• Ability to interpret remittance advices, contracts, and payer correspondence.

• Proficient with clearinghouses and payer portals.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage a high volume of accounts receivable.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers.

• Strong computer and software proficiency.
