This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and uphold exceptional customer service standards for policyholders, agents, and marketing centers.
• Oversee ongoing claims by gathering necessary medical and financial documentation or conducting investigations as needed.
• Collaborate with specialists in pertinent fields.
• Examine claims and underwriting files for the disclosure of previous medical history, exclusions, riders, and endorsements.
• Manage policy enhancements, premium waivers, and other associated benefits.
• Assess claim benefit eligibility and convey decisions to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate documentation of claim files to record all claim-handling activities.
• Acquire necessary file information and review policy provisions to confirm eligibility.
• Accurately maintain claim records in the system to ensure precise reserve calculations.
• Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent experience.
• 2–3+ years of experience in claims adjudication, preferably in disability claims.
• Strong customer service focus and effective negotiation abilities.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Fully bilingual in both French and English.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities.
• Strong skills in oral and written communication.
• Familiarity with government legislation and legal precedents, with knowledge of the Insurance Act and/or Civil Code of Québec considered an asset.
• Robust understanding of medical conditions and terminology.
• Experience with interpreting and applying financial documentation and equitable claims practices.
• Good comprehension of underwriting processes.
• Strong analytical capabilities to assess conflicting information, evaluate risk, and make prompt decisions.
