This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.
• Assist patients in obtaining treatment by educating both the patient and office staff about payer access and insurance processes, including specific requirements for authorization from payers.
• Help patients and office staff discover healthcare options that are closer to their residence as well as alternatives for home dosing.
• Skillfully navigate office and site of care personnel to identify the right individuals who can assist the patient with coverage and access needs.
• Educate on affordability assistance options, including copay assistance, patient assistance programs (PAP), and other alternative resources.
• Offer non-medical educational support, outlining what to expect when starting therapy.
• Prepare patients and assist in coordinating their subsequent appointments and treatments.
• Build trusted relationships with patients and caregivers through engagement via phone, text, email, virtual meetings, or in-person interactions.
• Follow a structured educational and support program to help patients on therapy to enhance adherence to prescribed treatments.
• Provide proactive education to larger centers, community prescribers, and sites of care regarding product procurement options and related billing and coding requirements for products and professional services.
• Adhere to compliance within the Krystal patient CRM/Workflow system to document case progress, complete assigned tasks, and manage overall case management functions in line with PAL responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A BS/BA degree is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience (Field-Based Preferred) in patient services, field reimbursement, biopharma sales, or account management is required, with at least 1 year of direct experience working with patients and families providing education and access support.
• Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish.
• Possess a scientific background and the capability to learn about product and disease information.
• Experience in orphan or rare diseases while working directly with patients or caregivers is preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA regulations is essential.
• Willingness to travel between 30% to 50% of the time.
• Capable of managing challenging patient cases and overcoming obstacles.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage communications while providing leadership to internal team members, specialty pharmacy partners, and field sales.
• Must be able to respond promptly, when necessary (within 24 hours), to avoid interruptions in treatment.
• Prior experience with Patient Journey Navigator (PJN) is preferred for patient services and case management workflow.
