Bilingual Accounting Specialist – LATAM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Honduras, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Ensure the maintenance of complete and precise financial records for the firm’s IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.

• Safeguard client funds by meticulously processing trust transactions and keeping IOLTA records up-to-date, accurate, and fully traceable.

• Reconcile bank, trust, operating, and accounting records, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies.

• Execute deposits, disbursements, transfers, invoices, expenses, and other financial transactions while paying close attention to supporting documentation.

• Keep QuickBooks organized and current.

• Generate regular financial, reconciliation, and transaction reports utilizing QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

• Assist with month-end accounting tasks by reviewing balances, organizing records, and completing necessary reconciliations.

• Collaborate with legal and operational team members when information, approvals, or corrections are required.

• Detect unusual activity, missing documentation, or potential accounting issues and address them proactively.

• Uphold strict confidentiality while managing client funds, financial records, settlement-related information, and internal business data.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or completion of relevant accounting coursework.

• Prior hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience in a U.S. law firm.

• Proven experience in managing IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, including transactions, reconciliations, reports, and account records.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, encompassing formulas, reconciliations, data organization, and financial reporting.

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.

• Capacity to quickly learn new workflows, manage competing priorities, work independently, and uphold accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced legal environment.

• Nice to have: accounting experience in a personal injury law firm.

• Nice to have: experience in supporting month-end closing activities for a legal practice.

• Nice to have: familiarity with settlement-related transactions, client ledgers, or personal injury case accounting.

• Nice to have: experience in enhancing bookkeeping, reconciliation, or financial reporting processes.
