• Oversee one to three sites and be accountable for all on-ground activities related to site operations and maintenance.
• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of site operations and be prepared to articulate the operational status at any given moment.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of site-specific issues and prioritize them based on safety, site performance, and additional considerations.
• Act as a proactive member of the Plus Power team, addressing problems and involving management early to prevent issues from escalating into site-limiting problems.
• Collaborate with the Director of Field Operations to establish a forward-looking schedule for site work.
• Ensure adherence to current safety and electrical policies for the protection and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
• Conduct quality and safety inspections/audits on maintenance activities carried out by field technicians.
• Provide updates on site maintenance activities, including both planned and unplanned maintenance.
• Timely identify and report critical issues to maximize uptime, facilitate successful energy market operations, and ensure compliance with stakeholder contracts.
• Support field O&M providers in maintenance or complex repair tasks.
• Oversee efficient scheduling and coordination of maintenance and repair efforts.
• Facilitate prompt responses to site communications and plant/equipment control failures in collaboration with the trading team, remote operations, EMS supplier, and asset managers.
• Offer technical assistance to onsite technicians and other vendors.
• Ensure the generation of service work orders for necessary corrective repairs and oversee the completion of such work.
• Maintain up-to-date daily records to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Schedule preventative maintenance activities in accordance with contractual obligations and seasonal constraints.
• Identify additional services required and initiate action to address facility needs.
• Analyze and determine root cause(s) of underperforming systems with support from performance engineering and the O&M field team.
• Manage overtime work of the field team while typically adhering to contracted services.
• Coordinate activities between site management and O&M providers.
• Ensure timely and complete submission of Warranty Claims as needed and oversee warranty work until completion.
• Travel up to 60% for fieldwork, onsite supervision, or to support other Field Managers during planned or unplanned outages.
• Organize monthly outage plans with internal and external stakeholders.
• Responsible for maintaining site safety, including pre-job Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and other pertinent forms.
• Expected to collaborate with the Director of EHS on best practices and align on site safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with ERCOT Weatherization guidelines.
• Work with Asset Managers to guarantee that all contractual commitments with key stakeholders and O&M contractors are met.
• Coordinate with Asset Managers to ensure that any onsite work remains within the approved project budget.
• This position is primarily focused on management rather than hands-on work, overseeing third parties responsible for maintenance and repairs.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of two years of direct experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and/or solar site operations is preferred.
• Strong understanding of safe industrial work practices and a commitment to ensuring site safety.
• Ability to communicate professionally with management, contractors, landowners, and other stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in collaborating within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Electrical, Inverter, and BESS certifications or licenses are preferred.
• HV electrical certification or experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
• Experience with electrical isolation (Lockout/Tagout) procedures for both low and high voltage equipment.
• Proven experience in managing teams, both locally and remotely.
• Flexibility in work hours and willingness to travel to remote locations is required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Capable of lifting 30 lbs and comfortable working from a ladder.
• Ability to walk long distances for site inspections.
• Competent in operating forklifts and other small motorized equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to respond in person to their site within a reasonable timeframe.
• Ideally located between Austin and San Antonio or near Midland, Texas.
