Benefits and Leave Management Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage health and welfare benefits programs, encompassing medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, disability, FSA/HSA, EAP, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans.

• Assist with benefits eligibility and enrollments for newly hired employees, annual open enrollment periods, qualifying life events, and status changes.

• Ensure accurate maintenance of benefit records and employee choices within HRIS/benefits administration systems.

• Offer benefits education and assistance to employees.

• Collaborate with payroll to guarantee precise deductions and reconciliation of benefit billing and premium payments.

• Act as the main point of contact for leave requests and administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and more.

• Work with a third-party worker’s compensation vendor to ensure proper management of leave cases.

• Monitor and update leave statuses accurately in HRIS and liaise with payroll regarding pay status.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits administration and/or leave of absence management.

• Experience in supporting hourly employees and managing high-volume employee populations.

• Proficient understanding of benefits eligibility, enrollments, life events, and best practices in leave management.

• Familiarity with both union and non-union employee groups, with the capability to interpret and adhere to various plan rules or contract provisions.

• Strong grasp of compliance concepts related to benefits and leave of absence, including FMLA, ADA, and COBRA.

• Proficient in HR systems (HRIS, benefits platforms) and Excel.

• Exceptional communication abilities, customer service skills, and the capability to convey complex policies in straightforward language.

• Keen attention to detail, organizational skills, and discipline in documentation.
