This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Oversee threat management services and handle referrals for students exhibiting potential violence risk factors.
• Evaluate, manage, and monitor behavioral and safety risks associated with students.
• Create and execute student support management plans, disciplinary interventions, and crisis support strategies.
• Track case management services and follow-up interventions within students’ homes, educational institutions, and communities.
• Provide consultation, in-service training, and professional development to staff at schools and districts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess threat levels and furnish behavioral, disciplinary, and threat management data.
• Complete required reporting for district, state, federal, and educational agencies.
• Gather and summarize discipline records, behavioral data, threat management information, and student histories.
• Coordinate the sharing of information between sending and receiving school districts.
• Maintain thorough documentation for support plans, interventions, and services provided.
• Foster relationships with parents and students through ongoing communication.
• Review discipline and threat management records during student enrollment.
• Lead the implementation of behavior policies across the school.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and community partners regarding school safety issues and security incidents.
• Investigate significant disciplinary incidents, including threats, harassment, and acts of violence.
• Revise the Student Code of Conduct incorporating stakeholder feedback, legal updates, and best practices.
• Participate on school- or district-level threat assessment teams, potentially as chair or District Threat Management Coordinator.
• Provide crisis intervention services in conjunction with Student Services.
• Act as the primary liaison between parents and Florida Virtual School concerning behavior and threat management.
• Research resources and best practices to enhance student discipline and school climate.
• Investigate breaches of the Student Code of Conduct and coordinate disciplinary measures.
• Engage in multidisciplinary meetings focused on students’ mental health and behavioral needs.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities, meet deadlines, and coordinate effectively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Behavioral Health Sciences, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• A valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate is preferred.
• A minimum of three years of experience in an educational environment, law enforcement, or a comparable field.
• Three years of experience working with adolescents facing mental health, social-emotional, or behavioral challenges is preferred.
• Experience in threat management, threat assessment, and/or school discipline is preferred.
• Familiarity with threat assessment, crisis response, and de-escalation methodologies.
• Understanding of the student code of conduct and SESIR.
• Availability for on-call duties, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Willingness to travel occasionally between district facilities.
• Capability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Proficiency in diffusing and managing volatile and stressful situations.
• Knowledge of state and federal educational regulations.
• Competence in evaluating and addressing students’ mental health requirements.
• Ability to analyze and assess threat and risk levels.
• Familiarity with behavioral management techniques and community mental health resources.
• Skill in collecting, summarizing, and graphing behavioral, disciplinary, and threat management data.
• Understanding and experience with emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delays.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in presentation and publication.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and coordination abilities.
• Capacity to cultivate collaborative relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Proficiency in the required and recommended FLVS computer applications.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse, multicultural, and interdisciplinary teams.
