
BAU Outside Plant Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Engage with Township, City, County, and State officials to review road and utility initiatives (travel required; mileage reimbursed).
• Identify and locate Frontier facilities, collaborating with project managers and municipal engineers to assess project impacts.
• Work alongside other utilities to create relocation plans that minimize conflicts and prevent delays.
• Field/design OSP BAU work orders, including service orders, subdivisions, road relocations, dark fiber MDU, and copper/fiber installations (aerial, buried, and underground).
• Update design and project management systems such as FROGS, CAD, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
• Coordinate with power companies and communication providers regarding make-ready work, pole replacements, and service requests.
• Prepare and submit necessary permits to local, state, and federal agencies (DOT, DNR, Railroad, Pipeline, etc.).
• Collaborate with SSP Contractors to ensure that construction is timely and cost-efficient.
• Handle plant damage repair (PDR/DOR) requests, including adjustments to cable counts and capital projects.
• Perform site surveys and design capital projects for cell towers.
• Assist field and central office technicians by investigating and resolving PUC complaints.
• Collaborate closely with Contract Engineers to ensure that projects meet business and client requirements.
• 3–5+ years of experience in copper and fiber-optic telecommunications engineering, focusing on broadband design and OSP construction.
• Over 5 years in network engineering or a related field, with comprehensive knowledge of fiber record management, cable counts, and permitting processes.
• Proficient in FROGS, CAD updates, and OSP Telecom Construction.
• Skilled in using Frontier mapping, design tools, and permitting systems.
• Strong capability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with municipal officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Proven understanding of permitting processes and requirements.
• Willingness to travel as necessary for project meetings, inspections, and surveys.
