This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.
• Conduct in-person background checks to assess the employment eligibility of individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
• Schedule and carry out face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, and acquaintances.
• Execute record searches at police departments, courthouses, educational institutions, financial organizations, and medical/mental health facilities.
• Accurately type and document gathered information in a government-issued computer system.
• Travel on a daily basis while performing in-person investigations.
• Operate independently, collaborate as part of a team of investigators, and coordinate with a Field Manager.
• Maintain professional interactions with others while upholding confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
• Fulfill attendance, punctuality, quality, timeliness, and production standards.
• Engage in local travel approximately 15–20% of the work week and undertake occasional temporary duty assignments lasting 14–30 days.
• Must live within 50 miles of the Starkville, MS city center.
• Must be able to secure and retain a Top Secret eligible clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A minimum of a High School diploma is necessary.
• At least 1 year of specialized Federal Background Investigative experience within the past five years, along with investigator training compliant with National Training Standards.
• A minimum of 3 years of general experience within the last five years, such as military service, local, state, or federal law enforcement, or investigative roles.
• Completion of “New Investigator” training is required.
• A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are necessary.
• Adequate motor vehicle insurance is required.
• Ability to travel locally and beyond the primary work area on a daily basis as needed.
• A home office setup is necessary.
• Proficiency in interacting professionally with a diverse array of individuals and personalities.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills are essential.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are required.
• Intermediate typing and computer skills; a typing speed of 40+ WPM is recommended.
• Ability to speak for extended durations and hear sufficiently to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
• Competence in recording, reading, and transcribing words and numbers accurately.
• Proven metrics in quality, timeliness, and productivity.
• Physical capability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for prolonged periods, and drive in challenging and/or nighttime conditions.
• Professional attire is mandated.
• A high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity is required.
