Backend Tester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the team to assess and define system and data requirements, pinpointing areas for enhancement.

• Develop, maintain, and execute test cases for backend data modifications, encompassing ETL, database, and API testing.

• Validate data transformation logic, data movement, schema alterations, and interface behavior across source and target systems.

• Design testing strategies to guarantee sufficient coverage of backend modifications and regression impact.

• Identify, document, and monitor defects, data discrepancies, and integration challenges until resolution.

• Create and uphold test data, test evidence, and accompanying test documentation.

• Work closely with developers, data engineers, and analysts to ensure backend changes are consistent with business and technical requirements.

• Verify data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and traceability across systems.

• Support the testing of new functionalities, enhancements, and production fixes within an Agile delivery framework.

• Engage in code and solution review discussions as necessary to enhance testability and quality.

• Understand operational and system perspectives to inform testing priorities and risk areas.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of testing processes, methodologies, and documentation quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

• At least 4 years of directly relevant experience in the industry.

• Demonstrated experience as a backend tester, QA analyst, or in a similar testing capacity.

• Experience in testing ETL processes, database modifications, and APIs.

• Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools.

• Proficient in SQL for backend validation.

• Strong skills in documentation, analysis, and communication.

• Ability to support Agile team delivery and coordinate with distributed stakeholders.

• In-depth knowledge of backend testing, including ETL, database, and API validation.

• Familiarity with testing methodologies, test design, and defect lifecycle management.

• Capability to analyze data flows and detect issues in backend processing and integrations.

• Understanding of SQL and database concepts for test validation.

• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience in supporting code modernization and refactoring efforts is an advantage.
