Backend Software Engineer – Systems, Chromium Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Architecting the Fork: Creating and developing a custom Chromium-based browser specifically designed to meet Wynd’s unique networking and performance criteria.

• Upstream Mastery: Overseeing the continuous integration of upstream Chromium releases. You will act as the gatekeeper, ensuring our custom patches are compatible with the latest updates from Google.

• Stability & Triage: Taking responsibility for the "crash-to-resolution" process. You'll analyze crash reports, prioritize field issues, and implement effective solutions to achieve five-nines stability.

• Workflow Engineering: Establishing the CI/CD and QA frameworks necessary to compile, test, and deploy a substantial C++ codebase across various platforms.

• Performance Optimization: Detecting bottlenecks within the browser engine and refining C/C++ code for optimal performance and reduced resource usage.

⛳️ Requirements

• C/C++ Mastery: You possess extensive experience in crafting high-performance, memory-safe code in C and C++. You grasp the underlying principles of the language, not just the syntax.

• Chromium Experience: You have considerable experience within the Chromium project (or similar large-scale forks such as Brave, Edge, or Electron). You are well-versed in GN, Ninja, Blink, and V8.

• Systems Intuition: You have a solid understanding of operating system internals (Linux/Windows/macOS), memory management, and multi-process architectures.

• The "Rebase" Mental Strength: You are experienced in managing intricate Git workflows, particularly with large-scale upstream merges and conflict resolution.

• Infrastructure Mindset: You aim to do more than just fix a bug; you strive to develop a test suite that prevents that bug from recurring. You are comfortable with automated QA and deployment pipelines.
