Backend Software Engineer – Staff/Principal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define the technical vision and architecture for Seeq's software platform.

• Oversee the design and development of intricate software systems.

• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers on industry best practices.

• Propel innovation and lead the adoption of new technologies and frameworks.

• Create and troubleshoot reliable, maintainable, and scalable applications from front-end to back-end.

• Design and implement backend systems for applications that handle significant data.

• Review code and offer constructive feedback.

• Engage in pair programming and contribute to team productivity.

• Interact with customers to comprehend feature justification and user challenges.

• Strategically plan, prioritize, and deliver accurate timelines to achieve project deadlines.

• Recognize and mitigate technical debt through effective refactoring.

• Maintain transparent communication regarding growth opportunities with both managers and peers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.

• Significant professional experience in software development, demonstrating a proven track record of designing, building, and evolving complex software systems over several years.

• Comprehensive understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java, Kotlin, Rust, C++, etc.

• Expertise in backend development for data-driven applications.

• Experience with databases, such as Postgres or MySQL.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the capacity to guide and mentor junior engineers.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work within a cross-functional team setting.

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools, including Scrum or Kanban.

• Must be authorized to work in the country of residence.
