Backend Software Engineer – Shared Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, highly dependable, and resilient backend software systems that operate on a significant global scale.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and lead design reviews as well as peer code assessments.

• Utilize system metrics, structured logging, and application analytics to enhance systems and boost reliability.

• Leverage modern AI-assisted coding tools to speed up software delivery while ensuring code quality and accuracy.

• Take ownership and provide operational support for core services during standard business hours to guarantee uptime and health.

• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, product managers, and UX designers to define and deliver impactful features.

• Assist peer engineers through knowledge sharing, technical leadership, and collaborative mentorship.

• Scale backend microservices and adopt modern AI-assisted development practices for shared APIs utilized by millions of users.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree (Master's/Ph.D.) with equivalent technical expertise.

• Strong proficiency in modern object-oriented backend programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, or similar server-side languages.

• Proven experience in building, deploying, and managing large-scale, high-performance, and resilient backend microservices.

• A strong sense of technical curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive approach to complex architectural challenges.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Experience in effectively collaborating across cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with modern cloud computing platforms and shared platform services is a plus.

• Knowledge of emerging AI-assisted development tools in production settings is desirable.

• Previous experience in HR technology, talent acquisition platforms, staffing agency software, or recruitment/job marketplace ecosystems is advantageous.

• Availability to align with U.S. Central Time (CT) or U.S. Pacific Time (PT) business hours.
