Backend Software Engineer – Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop software powered by AI and incorporate Large Language Model functionalities into enterprise production systems.

• Create and design autonomous AI agents, systems for tool-calling, and workflows for orchestrating multi-step tasks.

• Utilize MCP or similar open integration standards to link AI models with external tools and platforms.

• Construct and sustain scalable distributed software architectures employing REST/gRPC APIs alongside robust system design principles.

• Enhance context window management and apply reliability patterns to ensure LLM execution at scale.

• Carry out tasks throughout the complete software lifecycle, from experimentation and rapid prototyping to production maintenance.

• Work collaboratively with diverse teams on impactful AI-driven software initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of practical experience in software engineering, backend systems, or applied AI engineering.

• Advanced skills in Python and/or Java for backend development and executing algorithms.

• Direct and demonstrable experience in developing AI-driven software or integrating LLMs into enterprise-level applications.

• Hands-on expertise in building autonomous AI agents and managing multi-step workflows.

• Practical knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), custom tool-calling, or JSON-RPC adapters.

• Solid foundation in distributed architectures, REST/gRPC API design, and reliability patterns.

• Proven ownership mentality with the ability to manage rapid experimentation and strong production support.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Regular overlap with teams in Central Time (CT) and availability during standard business hours in Austin.
