Backend Engineer – Europe/UK timezone

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Create infrastructure to capture billions of events

• Ensure reliable processing of ingestion data at high throughput

• Supply processed data for product analytics, feature flags, CDP, and various PostHog platform components

• Take ownership of the ingestion pipeline service from start to finish

• Develop open-source software using Rust

• Design and implement distributed systems while assessing technology options

• Work on critical paths that impact both customer and engineer experiences

• Deliver small, assured, and frequent updates

• Collaborate with a team spread across North America and Europe

⛳️ Requirements

• Based in Europe or the UK

• Proven experience in building systems that handle billions of events daily

• Expertise in designing efficient systems capable of managing terabytes of data

• Strong understanding of data integrity and reliability

• Experience with highly scalable, event-driven distributed systems

• Background in developing multi-tenant software-as-a-service products

• Proficiency with Node.JS, Go, Rust, or comparable languages

• Familiarity with Kafka and PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar scalable systems

• Capability to implement changes swiftly without causing disruptions

• Nice to have: experience with customer data platforms or analogous data analytics systems

• Nice to have: experience handling a pager and managing incidents

• Nice to have: familiarity with provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure

• Nice to have: experience with benchmarking and profiling tools

• Nice to have: knowledge of observability systems and best practices

• Submission of a GitHub portfolio is required

• A resume/CV is mandatory
