Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain the backend services, APIs, and infrastructure that support Terra's products and AI platform.

• Create reusable integrations with third-party platforms, business systems, and external APIs to deliver seamless solutions for customers.

• Develop scalable workflows and automation that enhance both internal operations and customer-facing experiences.

• Work in close collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to transform ideas into production-ready features, iterating quickly based on feedback.

• Rapidly prototype new solutions, validate assumptions, and evolve them into dependable, scalable products.

• Extend and integrate current platforms—including CMSs, automation tools, and other business systems—when they offer the best solution for the challenge at hand.

• Utilize AI development tools to expedite implementation, automate repetitive tasks, and boost engineering productivity while upholding high standards for code quality and system design.

• Design systems that are reliable, secure, maintainable, and easy for other developers to build upon.

• Diagnose complex technical issues, enhance platform performance, and consistently identify opportunities to simplify architecture and developer workflows.

• Contribute to engineering best practices through code reviews, documentation, testing, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• You are a seasoned software engineer with over 3 years of experience in building scalable applications, platforms, or backend services.

• You enjoy tackling complex technical challenges and converting ambiguous requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

• You have developed software that addresses real business challenges across diverse customers, industries, or use cases.

• You are comfortable navigating different segments of the technology stack, integrating with APIs, third-party platforms, content systems, and business tools to deliver comprehensive solutions.

• You are adept at working with existing platforms and extending them as necessary, whether it's integrating a CMS, connecting third-party services, or creating custom solutions on top of current products.

• You are a versatile engineer who is eager to learn new technologies and domains quickly, and you can adapt to unfamiliar systems when the situation demands it.

• You think beyond just code, understanding how technical decisions impact users, customers, and the business as a whole.

• You are comfortable owning projects from start to finish, covering architecture, implementation, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

• You know how to effectively leverage AI development tools—breaking down problems, providing clear context, critically reviewing outputs, and guiding AI to deliver high-quality solutions rather than expecting it to solve issues autonomously.

• You thrive in collaborative, cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with engineering, product, and design teams.

• You are proactive, curious, and continuously seek better methods to build, automate, and simplify complex workflows.

• You are passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and constructing systems that are reliable, scalable, and easy to extend.

• You flourish in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly, experimentation is welcomed, and delivering value is paramount.
